Pastor Douglass Thompson comes with a “free gift” – none other than the lovely First Lady Jessie Thompson. As choir and praise team leader, she brings God-given talent, enthusiasm and a passion to serve to the Genesis family. She recognizes and embraces her position as role model, spiritual supporter and friend to the sisterhood of the church.

First  Lady Thompson attributes her ethics and values to the God-fearing atmosphere created in her childhood home by the late Rev. Jessie and Mrs. Mariah Redmond. Her relationship with God began as a child in Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi. As she matured, she realized that even though she knew God He required more. A total surrender to God was made on January 5, 1976 at Greater Bethlehem Temple in Jackson Miss., where God infused her with His spirit, causing her to walk in the newness of life.

With pleasure and prayer she and Pastor Thompson have raised four daughters and are now enjoying their role as grandparents. Sis. Thompson, who holds a Bachelor’s in Health and Physical Education from Union University, teaches part-time.
